Remember when you were young, And you were fragile. All the things you wanted to do, It’ wasn’t for a girl child. And as you got older, You talked about being a soldier. You finished high school, And you knew what you wanted to do. Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Just push your palms up To the glass ceiling Show them what you’re working with Express your feelings. Take a bow to your left, Take a bow to your right, Express your feelings, Like Kid dynamite! Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, C’mon and listen to My fusion sound, Everybody, come gather around. Just do your thang girls, do what you’re going to do. No one can tell you, How to do whatcha do. So do your thang girls, And hold your head up too. No one can tell you, How to do what you do. Take a bow to the left, Take a bow to the right, Express your feelings, Like kid dynamite! Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Dance & shout it’s a women’s world, Now who said it's a man's world, I beg to differ, huh!

Why am I making breakfast, while you are still in bed, with nothing to do? I’m so fed up right now, it’s time for you to pay your dues, Now here’s your clue! Now as a woman, who’s independent, I don’t want any freeloaders, hanging all around me If you’re not working, Why aren’t you in the kitchen, cooking for our family, Don’t you agree? I’ve had enough, And I’m, I’m gonna sing my blues, It’s time for me to tell the truth. Get up and get a job! Get up and get a job! (I want you to be a working man and get a job) Get up and get a job! It takes two people, to tango, It takes two people, To run this household. I’m your Queen and you are my King, Can’t you see? Where are those nice things, That you promised me, Including my diamond ring, I don’t understand, c'mon man I want you to be, a working man, Yes, I want you to be a working man. Instead, you are home, home all day with the remote in your hand. C’mon man! You had a J-O-B, just like me, I’m starting to frown now, Cause there are lots of jobs, in this town, All you have to do is look around. Get up & get a job Get up and get a job, I want you to be a working man, So get up & get a job! Ohhh,I’m gonna be like Millie Jackson And tell you like it is, oh yes I will. Stop being so dog gone lazy, You son of a (yeah you heard me) There’s no time, for your excuses. I want a vacation, Because I, I deserve the very best, And nothing less! So, get up and get a job, (come on come on) Get up and get a job, ( I want you to get a job, get up and get your resume ready) I want you to be a working man and get a job

Hey Mister, Where have you been, And who’s that woman, You’ve been kissing? You think it’s a game, But I know her name. You threw my love away, The day you were caught. I knew it wasn’t right, When you stay out at night Tiptoe quietly And think it’s alright. I ain’t that woman You can keep on the side, I don’t share my man, No, what’s mine is mine Go get yourself, A clean up woman, One that is okay, With your filthy ways You see, you don’t know, About my sleepless nights, This life I’m living, Just ain’t right I’ve re-arranged, And sacrificed, my well-being, On nothing but lies Just tell me the truth, that you can’t settle down, You’re acting like a fool, Always messing around. Cause I ain’t that woman, You can keep on the side, I don’t share my man, No, what’s mine is mine Go get yourself, A clean up woman One that is okay, With what you are doing Oh no, no, no, no I ain't that woman, no baby what about my well-being I got to think about that Cause you ain't worth it baby no,no,no just leave me alone, hey hey hey

I rise with the sun, I take second to none That’s how I want my days to begin, Out of breath, Through the songs I sing Cause I’m the only one in my life to control my destiny. I know what I said Before I laid down my pretty head I sent a prayer upstairs Praying for dreams and no nightmares Cause I rise with the sun And I take second to none Like a Phoenix, I shall rise Like a Lotus, I can’t hide With the sun on my face And the wind in my back Let’s see what happens When you’re on the right track This is my time to shine It feels real good, I can’t lie Ohhhh I have so much to say So please, just get out of my way I’ll keep on a happy face and maintain my sexy shape I’m at my best in the morning Oh, my imagination is soaring So quick, take a pic, Cause I know where I’m going I got all my clothes and shoes all packed And I’m jumping the line and I am not looking back Like a Phoenix, I shall rise Like a Lotus, I cannot hide With the sun on my face And the wind in my back We’ll just see what happens When I’m on the right track This is my time to shine Oh, it feels good, I can’t lie I got so much to say So please just get out of my way Cause I rise with the sun I take second to no one

Hey You Girl 05:14
Hey you girl, Are you tired and are you weary, And it’s okay, Cause life can be so scary. There are trials and tribulations, Don’t let sorrows take your celebrations. So whatcha gotta do, You got to push on through. Hey you girl, do you need a shoulder, that you can lean on? Well, I got you, I can hold you forever. Take this time for yourself, There is nothing wrong, When you ask for help. See those tears that you are crying, Will help you push on through. Hey you girl, Are you tired and weary? And yes, I care, I will be right here. Keep focused on surviving, Show your feelings, Please don’t hide them. Dry those tears that you are crying girl, Cause you need to push on through! You gotta get up and up straight, And if you need to take a break. There’ll be times when you feel alone, Don’t hesitate to call my phone. You know my number, I’ll be there, To share my strength and my ears, That what you do, If you want to push on through Hey you girl, Do you need somebody, That you can talk to? You know I’m here, I am here for you. Don’t you linger for too long, Because Life waits for no one, And those tears that you are crying girl, Will guide you to push on through. Do you feel my love? Feel my love, feel my love. Do you feel my love? Feel my love, feel my love.

Weekend 03:13
W-E-E-K-E-N-D W-E-E-K-E-N-D W-E-E-K-E-N-D W-E-E-K-E-N-D The weekend, Oh that’s right, I’m working for the weekend, Oh yes, I am. I said the weekend, weekend, alright, I’m working for the weekend, Cause I’m with all my friends. When Monday morning comes along, And it’s time to rise and shine, I press that snooze, Hoping to get to work on time. Wearing my hard hat, my vest and my steel toes And my lunch is in the fridge all wrapped up, And ready to go. Then I get in my car, Check the gas, turn on the radio. Head down to the coffee shop And the lineup is, oh, so slow! Oh, the weekend, yeah that’s right, I’m working for the weekend, Oh yes, I am. I said the weekend, weekend, that’s right I’m working for the weekend, Cause I’m with all my friends. Now Wednesday rolls around, Or should I say, it’s happy hump day. I turn my frown upside down, Because tomorrow, I get paid. And on Friday afternoon, I fill up with cheer. I’m doing my happy dance, Cause I know that the weekend is here. Oh, the weekend, yeah that’s right, I’m working for the weekend, Oh yes, I am. I said the weekend, weekend, that’s right I’m working for the weekend, Cause I’m with all my friends. I hear people talking about they’re living the dream, Seems like they’re half asleep sometimes. I want to wake up and get up off my feet, Cause I’m dreaming to live, it’s my time. about

GARNETTA CROMWELL is the real deal and this album rides the heartfelt blue waves of her life story. The journey takes us from the rocking tribute to her mother, Miss Marva Ann, the celebration of the strong woman that she is and women are, all the way to the soul ballad masterpiece of reaching out with love to a sister in profound pain,
(Hey You Girl).

Garnetta is blessed with a fabulous set of vocals pipes, and she channels her life experience to sing with the passion, sincerity and wisdom that distinguishes the great blues voices from all the rest.

Most of this album was recorded live off the floor with her well-named band, DaGROOVMASTERS, a tight match for her own highly developed sense of groove.

Whether you want to get down and party or simply lay back and appreciate classic sounding blues and old school soul, Garnetta Cromwell delivers, big time.

-Ken Whiteley

As a little girl, when my mother played her music, I would lie on our fluffy, shaggy carpet and place my ear to the loudspeaker. I soon became deaf, deafened by the Queen of Soul's powerful vocals. During my recovery from hearing loss, I relied soley on lip-reading to understand what everyone was saying. Once my hearing was restored, I focussed on looking into people's eyes, their souls, to understand and reflect- and to become the woman, and the blues artist I am today.

Losing my hearing is one of many challenges I have faced and overcome. I never gave up. Having been raised with strong women in my life, I will never give up

My songs, especially "I Rise With The Sun," explain my perseverance to rise from the ashes, like a Phoenix. So when you feel like life is throwing obstacles your way, don't give up, rise up!

GARNETTA CROMWELL Hamilton, Ontario

Garnetta’s story begins in Montreal Canada, a bilingual, Indigenous Black Canadian girl, a musical daughter of a sophisticated strong woman; and the youngest of 6 other talented girls. Watching her mother (Miss Marva Ann) use music to survive, thrive, heal, and grow; Garnetta used music for the same purpose. As a child, Garnetta had a hearing impairment making her temporarily deaf. ... more
